Andy Cohen has found the perfect pipeline from reality TV to the big game of politics!

The reality star got candid about the possibility of some of the stars at Bravo succeeding in public service and a unique trait that may give them a soft landing when the going gets tough.

Andy Cohen has issued several commentaries on American politics in the past, including his admission that a Donald Trump presidency was one of his recurring nightmares.

The media personality on Threads during an engaging session with his fans expressed that he is fully aware of the track record for reality stars running for political office. Cohen admitted that the history has been less than impressive, but the communication skills of these television stars could be effective for what public office demands.

No one is in a better position to weigh in on Bravo stars and politics than the great Cohen, who has worked as a longtime executive producer for the “Real Housewives” franchise. Cohen also replied to another question about the influx of “so many MAGA women” on “Real Housewives of Orange County.”

The viewer had expressed their decision not to watch the show anymore, to which Cohen stressed that platforming people with different perspectives is the spice of the show. He added that the show actually focuses on these women, their relationships, and not their politics.

Some Bravo Stars Have Had Their Interests In Politics Aligned In The Past

Despite Cohen’s observation about reality stars and politics, he was indeed right about the Bravo bit, as some “Real Housewives” stars have been known to break bread with political figures and also lend their voices to worthy causes.

As noted by Bravo, one of these stars is Carole Radziwill, who held close ties to the late John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife until they died in 1999. The “Real Housewives of New York” star also married into a political dynasty as her late husband Anthony Radziwill was the son of Lee Radziwill, the sister of the late First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. 

Another Bravo star, from the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Kim Richards, once admitted to dating President Donald Trump. Sonja Morgan, who is good friends with Trump’s ex-wife, Ivana Trump, also once worked with the politician as a consultant.

Nene Leakes, Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Kandi Burruss, Giselle Bryant and a few more others have also once worked with a politician or even emerged from a politically conscious family.

Parks had attended the 2016 Democratic National Convention alongside Williams, where she organized a roundtable on gun violence. Parks had also brought the franchise cast members to Washington in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March. 

Williams’ grandfather, Hosea Williams, is known as a prominent civil rights leader and philanthropist. At the same time, Leakes, Brandi Glanville, Teresa Guidice, Lisa Rina and Kenya Moore all worked alongside Trump as contestants on “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

As co-founder of a growing hair salon brand, Lunatic Fringe, which has nine locations across the country, Katsanevas has first-hand experience in the franchise world. The reality star used her Capitol Hill appearance to advocate particularly for women and immigrant franchisees, whom she viewed as living examples of the American Dream.

The topic was especially personal for Katsanevas, whose parents immigrated to the United States from Greece. Drawing from her family’s experience, she presented franchising as a pathway to business ownership, financial independence, and several opportunities.

In 2016, as seen on Bravo, Parks once believed politics held the ace for her future, as she had used her platform from the reality show and as an attorney to address major social issues. The reality star was one of the voices that brought attention to the water crises in Flint. 

The lawyer admitted that she once dreamed of becoming an insurance commissioner before she moved her career path into entertainment; nevertheless, her political passion was alive and well. She expressed her belief that politicians could help communities through legislation and laws designed to improve people’s lives.

When asked whether she would ever run for political office, Parks said she was confident she eventually would, as family was also a strong influence on her interest. 

She revealed that her aunt had made history as the first woman and person of color elected to political office in Hall County. At the same time, Parks herself had developed connections with several politicians.

Cohen, when he is not making the cast members of the franchise look good in the media, he is showing them his kind and loving side behind the scenes. Karen Huger touched on her time behind bars for a DUI conviction during an interview with E! News about who she allowed to be there for her during those six months.

She revealed that Cohen was one of the few people who supported her and was so lovely throughout her ordeal. Huger did not hide her love and admiration for the producer, describing him as a part of her family while expressing how lucky she feels to be a part of his team.

The reality star also extended her gratitude to the network for standing by her during her lowest moment and for preparing her for such a period in her life thanks to her time on the show. Cohen joined the network as an executive producer and reunion host when the series first launched in 2006.

He monitored the development of the “Real Housewives of Orange County” premiere and soon became the permanent on-air host for all franchise reunion specials.
