Last April, Air Canada amended its baggage fees on international routes to $90 for the first checked bag in the lowest economy fare, and $120 for the second. This was an increase from $70 for the first bag and between $100 to $115 for the second. Its economy standard and flex rates include one free checked bag. The change came amid soaring fuel prices after the U.S.-led attacks on Iran.

Similar changes the following month applied to domestic, U.S. and Caribbean flights, but with a cost of $45 for the first checked bag and $60 for the second, up from $35 and $50.
