Police in Durham Region say one male is dead after a shooting in Oshawa.

In a post to social-media site X on Tuesday afternoon, Durham Regional Police said officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Cedar St.-Wentworth St. W. area.

A male was found dead at the scene.

The fatality is being investigated as a homicide and there is a large police presence in the area.

Information on suspects was not immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-579-1520.
